Clinical Photographs

Photos are sometimes taken in clininc to aid clinicians to:

  • Monitor skin lesions or rashes
  • Make clinical diagnosis and treatment decisions after skin lesions have been removed
  • Make clinical diagnosis and treatment decisions when lesions or rashes discussed with colleagues at clinical supervision meetings

Photos are sometimes used for teaching purposes.

Your photo data is safe.

  • Clinical photos are taken with phone applications that avoid storage on the internet or personal devices
  • Clinical photos are only stored on your clinical record
  • Clinical photos are only shared with clinicians in the community or hospital dermatology services

If you have any questions, or if you do not want your skin condition to be photographed, please speak to the clinician.

After Your Appointment

Ongoing Care

Many long-term skin conditions tend to come and go.  We will advise you and your GP how best to continue to manage your condition, prevent and treat flare-ups.

If needed, we will be able to offer you a review of your condition either within 12 weeks of your referral, or if your GP refers you to us for a further assessment.

In some cases, we may refer you to secondary care for further assessment.
